Seagate выпустит жесткий диск емкостью 1,5 Тб

Компания Seagate сообщила о скором выходе первого на рынке жесткого диска емкостью 1,5 Тб, сообщает Reg Hardware.

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 будет содержать четыре пластины, каждая из которых будет вращаться со скоростью 7200 об/мин. Интерфейс SATA 3 Гбит/с позволит читать и записывать информацию со скоростью до 120 Мб в секунду.

По словам производителя, Barracuda 7200.11 станет емким жестким диском за последние 50 лет.

Диск появится в августе 2008 г. Стоимость неизвестна.

Помимо 1,5-ТБ версии, будут выпущены диски емкостью 160-750 Гб. Объем кэш-памяти, в зависимости от емкости диска, составит 16 или 32 Мб.

Кроме Barracuda 7200.11, компания Seagate анонсировала два новых диска на 500 Гб для ноутбуков, 2,5-дюймовые Momentus со скоростью вращения шпинделя 5400 и 7200 об/мин. Винчестеры оборудованы технологией защиты от механических повреждений. По данным компании, встроенный в устройство датчик отдает команду на парковку головок, как только обнаруживается какое-либо ускорение. Защита срабатывает тогда, когда диск падает с высоты даже 20 см.

Новые Momentus поступят в продажу в IV квартале этого года.
