Устройства созданы с применением многоуровневой структуры ячеек (Multi-Level Cell – MLC) вместо одноуровневой структуры в продуктах предыдущего поколения. Налажен выпуск как 1,8-, так и 2,5-дюймовых устройств. Кроме того, до конца июля 2008 г. будут запущены MLC-накопители емкостью 64 ГБ. <br /><br />Переход на новую технологию позволил снизить стоимость, повысить скорость работы и надежность. <br /><br />Потребление эклектической энергии накопителей равняется 0,2 Вт в режиме ожидания и 0,5 Вт – в активном режиме. Скорость чтения информации составляет 90 МБ в секунду, записи – 70 Мб в секунду. По данным производителя, новые устройства имеют в 20 раз больший срок эксплуатации в сравнении с жесткими дисками. Как известно, старение SSD является их основным минусом. <br /><br />Ранее сообщалось, что стоимость новых накопителей составит порядка $2 тыс. <br /><br />В компании полагают, что в период с 2008 по 2010 гг. спрос на SSD-накопители увеличится на 800%. <br />
