Nvidia представит процессоры для мобильных устройств

Компания Nvidia собирается представить на выставке Computex (Тайбэй, 3-7 июня) линейку процессоров, предназначенных для мобильных и карманных компьютеров, сообщает The Inquirer.

Первым процессором, который покажет Nvidia, станет Tegra APX 2500, возможности которого уже были продемонстрированы на Mobile World Congress в феврале. Данный чип предназначается для карманных устройств. APX 2500 площадью 144 кв. мм поддерживает декодирование HD-видео с разрешением 720p, а также OpenGL ES 2.0 (в перспективе).

Другие два процессора CSX 600 и 650 рассчитаны на более мощные ПК, включая ноутбуки. Они основаны на отличной от x86 архитектуре и содержат 256 КБ кэш-памяти второго уровня. Чипы планируется наделить поддержкой декодирования 1080p со скоростью 24 кадра в секунду, которое будет осуществляться в рамках энергопотребления 3 Вт. У процессоров Intel Atom аналогичные возможности по декодированию, но вышеуказанного ограничения в частоте смены кадров нет. Архитектура ARM11, на которой основаны эти чипы, не позволяет запустить последнии версии Windows, поэтому устройства на их базе могут работать под управлением лишь Windows CE или Linux.

Ранее представители Nvidia высказывали предположение, что в будущем не будет простых центральных процессоров, место которых займут универсальные чипы, которые, в том числе, будут выполнять сложные графические расчеты.
