В новом приводе используется режим записи с постоянной линейной скоростью (CLV), при которой скорость передачи данных во время записи постоянна и составляет 4X (18 МБ/с). Этот формат записи отличается от режима записи с постоянной угловой скоростью (CAV), используемой некоторыми 6-скоростными приводами, при которой запись начинается на меньшей скорости и постепенно, к концу записи, достигает 6X.<br /><br />Большинство пользователей не используют полный объём диска при архивировании данных. «Если использовать лишь 75-80% объёма диска, то режим записи CLV на 4-кратной скорости будет быстрее, чем режим CAV на 6-кратной скорости. Формат Blu-ray пользуется спросом на рынке не только как формат для видео высокой чёткости, но и как формат для резервного копирования данных. Новый привод предоставляет возможность более быстрого архивирования данных на дисках Blu-ray», - утверждает менеджер по маркетингу Йелмер Вельдман (Jelmer Veldman).<br /><br />DH-4B1S поддерживает запись на диски BD-RE на скорости 2X и чтение дисков BD-ROM на скорости 4X.
