Специализирующаяся на однокристальных системах (SoC) для потребительской электроники компания Sigma Designs объявила о начале поставок ознакомительных образцов новой SoC SMP8654, относящейся к категории медиапроцессоров. Новинка предназначена для нового поколения абонентских приставок для приема Интернет-телевидения (Internet Protocol Television, IPTV). По оценке компании, SMP8654 обеспечивает увеличение производительности на 50%, и снижение стоимости на 30% по сравнению с предшествующей моделью SMP8634.<br /><br />Спрос на процессоры для IPTV увеличивается по мере распространения технологии Интернет-телевидения. В настоящее время во Франции насчитывается более двух миллионов подписчиков этой услуги, в Германии — полмиллиона, в Северной Америке до конца года их количество должно перевалить за миллион. Активно наращивают количество пользователей соответствующие сервисы в Корее, Китае и Японии. Как известно, массовому внедрению технологии способствует снижение стоимости оборудования.<br /><br /><div align="center"><img src="http://www.hdtv.ru/uploads/posts/2008-04/1208896101_smp8654.jpg" style="border: none;" alt='Sigma представила новый процессор для IPTV' title='Sigma представила новый процессор для IPTV' /></div><br />Процессор Sigma SMP8654 объединяет вычислительный ресурс (несколько процессорных ядер), средства для работы с защищенными материалами и богатый набор периферийных блоков. Среди достоинств SMP8654 — наличие декодеров видео, включая H.264 (MPEG-4 part 10), Windows Media Video 9, VC-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 (part 2) и AVS. Процессор оснащен средствами ускорения операций обработки графических данных, декодерами звука, выходом HDMI 1.3. К другим особенностям можно отнести наличие встроенной флэш-памяти, поддержку DRM, два порта Gigabit Ethernet, два — USB 2.0, контроллер флэш-памяти типа NAND, инфракрасный порт и порт SATA.<br /><br />Основное ядро процессора MIPS 24k работает на частоте 500 МГц. На него возложены прикладные задачи и взаимодействие с пользователем. Второе MIPS-ядро отведено для обработки прерываний и разгружает основное ядро от системных задач, включая поддержку сетевого стека. Третье MIPS-ядро предназначено для функций защиты — в частности, оно выполняет дешифрование и генерацию ключей. В состав SMP8654 также входит контроллер памяти DDR-2.
