В феврале NVIDIA представила новую высокоинтегрированную платформу для устройств вроде мобильных телефонов и КПК — APX 2500. Эта платформа выглядит пока очень привлекательно, принося совершенно новый уровень производительности на карманные устройства. Продукты на базе APX 2500 в состоянии воспроизводить видео высокой четкости в разрешении до 720p (форматы H.264, MPEG-4 и VC-1) и выводить его через HDMI 1.2, осуществлять 3D визуализацию и т. д.

Недавно NVIDIA сообщила на конференции, что платформа имеет энергопотребление на уровне 50 мВт, что позволит устройствам на его базе работать без перезарядки 10 часов.
NVIDIA делится деталями о мобильной платформы APX 2500

По словам NVIDIA, APX 2500 является одним чипом, размер которого составляет не более 10-центовой монеты. Этот чип включает в единой упаковке процессор ARM11 MP с частотой в 750 МГц, видеоускоритель GeForce, процессор для воспроизведения HD-звука и HD-видео, систему ввода-вывода и сигнальный процессор изображений.

Видеокарта GeForce предоставит такие 3D-функции, как программируемые вершинные и пиксельные шейдеры, динамическое освещение и адаптивный антиалиасинг.

Многие склонны скептически относиться к производительности платформы NVIDIA из-за ее небольших размеров и малого энергопотребления. Однако, предварительные тесты показывают, что платформа показывает действительно совершенно новый уровень производительности.
