Цена за новинку составит 250 евро (364 доллара), таким образом, модель SBR-1000 станет самым дешевым Blu-ray плеером в Европе (для сравнения модель BDP-S300, которая появилась в апреле, стоила 369 евро или 537 долларов). <br />В плеере предусмотрена поддержка профиля 1.1/Bonus View, разрешение 1080p/24, звук  Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD и разъем HDMI 1.3. Низкая цена обусловлена новым, более дешевым синим лазером, разработанным  компаниями Sony и Nichia. Скорее всего  в США эта разработка приведет к массовому снижению цен на Blu-ray плееры уже в ближайшее время.
