В России не будет iTunes 23 января 2008 года компания Apple провела первую официальную пресс-конференцию в России. Она прошла в здании РИА "Новости". Перед журналистами выступили сотрудники американского офиса фирмы. Фото и видеосъёмка во время презентации была запрещена.

В первую очередь выступающие рассказали о новом цвете плеера iPod nano - розовом. Затем журналистов информировали о новинках, представленных на MacWorld Expo неделю назад. Много времени в речи сотрудников Apple было посвящено Apple TV, возможности проката фильмов в iTunes, а также новым приложениям для iPod Touch. Была также и объявлена официальная цена на новый ноутбук Apple MacBook Air. Она составит 67900 рублей.

После мероприятия у присутствующих назрели резонные вопросы: каким образом в России можно приобрести новые приложения и возможности существующим пользователям iPod Touch, которые предлагается купить через iTunes Store за 20 долларов, а также когда в нашей стране откроется сам iTunes Store? Представители американского офиса Apple ответили, что пока российскую версию сервиса открывать не планируется; а людям, купившим iPod Touch со старой версией прошивки рекомендовали приобрести новый плеер, но уже с прошивкой версии 1.1.3, так как без iTunes Music Store покупка новых приложений и возможностей невозможна.
