Компания Rambus, один из ведущих разработчиков сверхбыстрых микросхем памяти в мире, официально объявила о предоставлении лицензии на использование чипов памяти XDR RAM в HD-телевизорах Toshiba следующего поколения. Новая архитектура основана на таких фирменных технологиях как Octal Data Rate (ODR), Differential Rambus Signaling Level (DRSL) и FlexPhase, и использует более широкую полосу пропускания при меньшем количестве микросхем DRAM, чем другие архитектуры, принятые в отрасли. Скорость передачи данных в микросхемах памяти XDR RAM достигает отметки 4,8 Гбит/с. По мнению специалистов, использование таких чипов позволит добиться улучшения ряда технических параметров HDTV - например, разрешения 1080+, частоты обновления экрана 120 Гц, 12-битной цветопередачи, функции PnP (картинка в картинке) по стандарту HD. Кроме того, станет возможным применение более эффективного алгоритма для обработки изображения.
