Американские магазины Amazon, Best Buy и Circuit City снизили стоимость Blu-ray-плеера Samsung BD-P1400 до $299. Первоначальная стоимость плеера составляла $549, затем, в августе, была снижена до $499. Анонсирован плеер был в июле 2007 г.

Устройство поддерживает полное разрешение высокой четкости (1080p) и "родную" скорость воспроизведения фильмов 24 кадра в секунду. Присутствует поддержка звука без сжатия Dolby True HD и DTS HD, интерфейса HDMI версии 1.3 (более глубокая цветопередача) и преобразования разрешения.

Для сравнения, стоимость схожей модели HD DVD-плеера Toshiba HD-A20 (поддержка True HD, DTS HD, 1080p) в магазине Circuit City составляет $250.
