<br />Английский телекоммуникационный регулятор Ofcom объявил о намерении обеспечить всех потребителей бесплатным эфирным телевидением в формате HD к 2012 году. В настоящее время запуск телевизионного вещания высокой четкости затруднен из-за недостатка пропускной способности, разрешенной для использования наземным цифровым телевидением, части спектра.<br /><br />Ofcom расширит доступный спектр, что позволит организовать до пяти каналов HD, взамен единственного, транслируемого в настоящий момент компанией BBC, пишет Computer Active.<br /><br />Дополнительные ресурсы будут получены благодаря переходу эфирного телевидения целиком на цифровой формат, что позволит сэкономить до 20% пропускной способности, а также благодаря использованию нового европейского стандарта передачи DVB-T2, что обеспечит, как минимум, еще порядка 30%.
