Компания Samsung выпустила новую серию ЖК-телевизоров со светодиодной подсветкой и с беспрецедентно высокой контрастностью - от 100000:1 до 500000:1. Новые модели оснащены экранами с диагональю 40, 46, 52 и 57 дюймов, и способны обеспечить самое четкое изображение среди ЖК-телевизоров высшего класса.

В новых телевизорах применяется технология светодиодной подсветки с локализованным затемнением. Сотни сверхтонких светодиодов включаются и выключаются в точном соответствии с движениями объектов на экране, обеспечивая равномерность подсветки по всему экрану. В тёмных зонах светодиоды могут выключаться при необходимости, чтобы обеспечить максимальный уровень черного цвета. В зависимости от количества используемых светодиодов, динамическая контрастность в новых телевизорах может увеличиться на 1000% по сравнению с телевизорами с обычной подсветкой на базе технологии CCFL.

Новые телевизоры с повышенной контрастностью от Samsung уже появились в продаже в некоторых странах. Их цены пока довольно высоки, например, в Великобритании модель Samsung LE52F96 стоит 2700 фунтов (более 5400 долларов). Тем не менее, Samsung надеется, что другие производители ЖК-телевизоров также возьмут новую технологию на вооружение в ближайшем будущем.
