Когда в противостоянии ни у одной из сторон нет явного преимущества, приходится такие преимущества придумывать.<br /><br />Например, компания Toshiba смогла стандартизовать трехслойные диски HD DVD, которые, пусть совсем чуть-чуть, но превосходят по объему диски Blu-ray. В свою очередь, Blu-ray Disc Association опубликовала статистические данные, согласно которым, на японском рынке господствуют устройства Blu-ray.<br /><br />Спору нет, японский рынок, хоть и уступает европейскому, и, тем более, американскому, зачастую может служить индикатором развития отрасли — многие новинки начинали свой путь с победы на этой, славящейся своей приверженностью новым высокотехнологичным разработкам, территории. В тоже время, данные, приведенные источником, стоит воспринимать критически.<br /><div align="center"><img src="http://www.hdtv.ru/uploads/posts/1195913399_bda25b15d.jpg" style="border: none;" alt='Blu-ray занимает 97% японского рынка рекордеров высокой четкости' /></div><br />Хотя, судя по верхнему графику, на долю HD DVD приходится всего лишь 2,8%, тогда, как оставшиеся 97,2% принадлежат Blu-ray, следует сделать несколько уточнений.<br /><br />Во-первых, речь идет только об устройствах, способных выполнять запись. Во-вторых, оба формат вместе пока что очень сильно уступают старому, доброму DVD. В общей сложности, HD DVD и Blu-ray не смогли пока занять даже пятой части японского рынка оптических приводов с возможностью записи. Не далее, как в октябре, их доля была примерно равна 5%, а сейчас — уже почти 20%, так что довольно скоро носители и устройства, поддерживающие видео высокой четкости, могут вытеснить DVD.
