Киностудия Warner Home Entertainment в своем эксклюзивном интервью High-Def Дайджесту заявила о том, что выход раннее анонсированного гибридного диска HD DVD/Blu-ray откладывается на неопределенный срок.
Как сообщалось раньше, студия произвела фурор во время Consumer Electronics Show, когда выступила с предложением использовать гибридные диски, в качестве решения в войне форматов. Идея заключается в использовании HD DVD слоя на одной стороне диска и Blu-ray слоя на другом, при этом стоимость подобного гибрида должна быть не намного больше, чем диска одного формата. Киностудия планировала выпустить такой диск во второй половине года.
Спустя шесть месяцев Warner не подтвердила своих планов и сообщила, что выход Total HD переносится на начало 2008 года. При этом киностудия не отказывается от этой концепции и обещает выпустить 10-20 подобных продуктов.
Долгое время студия хранила молчание по поводу своих планов по выпуску Total HD и вот теперь сообщила, что откладывает их, в ответ на изменения в торговой политике, связанной с переходом студии Paramount на HD DVD.
‘На данный момент планы по выпуску Total HD приостановлены’, говорит Джим Нунан, вице президент киностудии Warner. ‘Total HD это продукт, который мы предложили индустрии, как решение для сомневающихся потребителей, а также для возможности использования дисков в разных устройствах. У нас нет частного интереса в Total HD, как впрочем, и патента на данную технологию. Таким образом, если кто-то другой захочет использовать такой продукт, мы не получим за это никакого денежного вознаграждения. Данная технология была предложена как решение для индустрии в целом и это решение остается хорошим и ценным и не ограничивается сроком годности.’
