Компания Sony объявила, что с 10 октября в Великобритании начнутся продажи новой модели PS3 c жестким диском объемом 40 Гбайт. Помимо уменьшенного HDD, модель будет отличаться меньшим количеством USB-портов(2 вместо 4) и полным отсутствием совместимости с играми для PS2 (совместимость с PSOne, впрочем, останется). Стоимость новой модели составит 299 фунтов стерлингов (примерно 610 долларов).<br /><div align="center"><img src="http://www.hdtv.ru/uploads/posts/1191911030_ps3s.jpg" style="border: none;" alt='Sony представила 40-гигабайтную PS3' title='Sony представила 40-гигабайтную PS3' /></div><br />В Sony объясняют ее появление тем, что пользователей интересуют не столько обратная совместимость и большой жесткий диск, сколько низкая цена.<br /><br />Компания также сообщила об изменении цены и комплектации набора Starter Pack – в него, напомним, входили 60-гигабайтная приставка (обратно совместимая с PS2), два контроллера Sixaxis и две игры. Стоило все это 425 фунтов (около $870). Лишившись одного контроллера и сменив имя на Value Pack, набор будет теперь стоить 349 фунтов ($710). Продажи Starter Pack будут прекращены.
