Тайваньский полупроводниковый гигант TSMС сообщил о том, что Microsoft начала производство Xbox 360 с использованием встроенной DRAM-памяти, выполненной по 90-нм техническому процессу.<br /><div align="center"><img src="http://www.hdtv.ru/uploads/posts/1187267355_56479.png" style="border: none;" alt='Xbox 360 переходит на 90-нм встроенную память' title='Xbox 360 переходит на 90-нм встроенную память' /></div><br /><br />Переход к данной технологии дает возможность использовать макро-дизайн высокой плотности, позволяющий внедрить до 80 Мб памяти, работающей на частоте до 500 МГц. По словам представителя Microsoft, «это как раз то что необходимо для усиления позиций компании на рынке игровых консолей и развлечений».<br /><br />В свою очередь, TSMC утверждает, что встроенная память позволяет избежать затрат энергии на ввод/вывод, которыми характерны внешние модули, в то же время отличаясь более широкой шиной и дешевой стоимостью. Учитывая же довольно большое число неисправных консолей, с которыми столкнулась Microsoft после запуска Xbox 360, и постоянные снижения цен, удешевление себестоимости приставки – это действительно «то, что надо».
