Альянс WiMedia образовал рабочую группу, направленную на изучение вопроса – есть ли необходимость в разработке чернового варианта сетей для ультраширокополосной передачи данных по коаксиальному кабелю? Не дожидаясь принятия решения рабочей группой, один из участников альянса, компания Tzero Technologies, анонсировала UWB-чип, поддерживающий как беспроводную передачу, так и передачу через коаксиальный кабель данных со скоростью до 300 Мбит/с.
Еще более высокую скорость передачи, до 430 Мбит/с, с использованием тех же вариантов сред обещает компания Pulse-Link, у которой соответствующие UWB-чипы на базе проприетарной технологии должны выйти осенью.
Готовится кабельный стандарт для домашних ультраширокополосных сетей?

Активный интерес UWB-игроков к использованию коаксиального кабеля может свидетельствовать о постепенном формировании представления о будущих домашних ультраширокополосных сетях, как о сетях с гибридной средой передачи. Возможно, такому развитию событий способствует проблематичность использования одних только беспроводных сетей для покрытия всех помещений дома. Обращают на себя внимание также «чисто проводные» решения, например, чипы производства компании Entropic Communications, обеспечивающие пропускную способность 135-180 Мбит/с. Это меньше, чем максимальные скорости в UWB-сетях, но в кабельной сети обеспечивается большая дальность действия, к тому же в решении Entropic реализован новый механизм приоритезации (quality-of-service), выходящий за рамки текущих стандартов организации Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA).

Сообщается о том, что вышеупомянутая рабочая группа WiMedia несколько недель назад уже разослала участникам альянса рекомендации о необходимости разработки стандарта, предусматривающего использование коаксиального кабеля. Кроме того, эта группа намерена представить общую архитектуру отдельной технической группе с целью последующего включения в стандарт. Хотя конкретные сроки окончания работ по разработке стандарта не установлены, представитель WiMedia заявил, что это не должно занять слишком много времени. www
