Представитель Universal Home Entertainment Кен Граффео (Ken Graffeo) прокомментировал отношение его компании к формату  HD DVD. По его словам, студия Universal признает очевидные преимущества HD DVD, такие как:  более дешевые проигрыватели и поддержка интерактивного содержимого для всех дисков.<br /><div align="center"><img src="http://www.hdtv.ru/uploads/posts/1180730766_universal_logo.jpg" style="border: none;" alt='Universal признается в любви к HD DVD' /></div><br />Кен Граффео отмечает, что для Blu-ray, интерактивность все еще дополнительная опция. Так же, он сетует на то, что единственный доступный Blu-Ray  плеер с поддержкой локальных сетей – это Play Station 3. <br />«Если вы просите менее $300 за аппаратуру, вы выходите на массовый рынок. Сейчас люди с охотой готовы приобретать плеера. Я не могу представить, что цена на Blu-ray устройства приблизится к $300 в этом году. Мне кажется их главный фаворит PlayStation 3 ($599) может подешеветь, но не более чем на $100».<br />Однако, он признает и нынешнее доминирование Blu-ray, этого нельзя отрицать, когда за формат выступают такие блокбастеры как Casino Royale, тогда как релизы Universal должны массировано выйти на рынок только в четвертом квартале. <br />Как и представители Microsoft, он умалчивает о том, произойдет ли у студии поголовный переход на Blu-ray в случае явного перевеса последнего на рынке.<br />
