Ещё в сентябре прошлого года компания Canon совместно с фирмой Toshiba объявили о намерении выпускать телевизоры по новой технологии Surface Conduction Electron Emitter Display (SED). Представители компаний утверждают, что это более совершенная и продвинутая технология по сравнению с принципом действия тех же ЖК-дисплеев и плазменных панелей: интенсивность излучения SED-панелей гораздо выше, чем у плазменных экранов, а по толщине новые изделия тоньше ЖК-моделей и PDP-телевизоров с той же диагональю экрана. Малый вес и большие углы обзора являются неоспоримыми преимуществами новых моделей. Кроме того, они обещают быть более экономичными в вопросе энергопотребления, чем плазмопанели - примерно вдвое.<br /><div align="center"><img src="http://www.hdtv.ru/uploads/posts/1180439375_230507044.jpg" style="border: none;" alt='Выпуск SED-телевизоров отложен' /></div><br />Первая партия телевизоров, выпущенных по технологии SED, должна была выйти ещё зимой, однако уложиться в запланированные сроки производителям не удалось. На сегодняшний день временем выпуска новых телевизоров названо начало 2008 года, однако успеют ли Canon и Toshiba наладить производство, будет видно уже в январе.<br /><br />Ещё одним важным вопросом является проблема востребованности SED-моделей, поскольку цена на них значительно превосходит цены на ЖК и плазменные телевизоры с технологией HDTV.
