Sony PS3: низкий объем продаж из-за недостатка игр Апрель месяц выдался очень сложным для Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA), подразделения компании Sony занятого продвижением на северо-американском рынке игровых приставок последнего поколения. Несмотря на увеличение количества проданных переносных консолей PSP, ее главный конкурент на портативном игровом фронте Nintendo DS все равно оказалась на вершине рейтинга.

Еще более разочаровывающим оказалось снижение количества проданных "больших" PlayStation 3, более чем на 50 тыс единиц, по сравнению с уровнем марта 2007 года. При этом, по мнению аналитиков, двумя основными причинами в сложившемся положении дел являются слишком высокие отпускные цены и отсутствие новых эксклюзивных игровых приложений, способных подтолкнуть потребителей к приобретению приставок PlayStation 3. Официальные лица компании согласны с приведенным выше мнением только наполовину.

"Неудачи с продажами PlayStation 3 целиком связаны с отсутствием новых игр, – утверждает Дэйв Карекер (Dave Karraker) корпоративный директор по связям с общественностью SCEA. – По нашему мнению, готовящиеся к выходу потенциальные игровые хиты такие как Heavenly Sword и Uncharted: Drake's Fortune должны в корне изменить ситуацию".

И если апрель был трудным для Sony, то май может оказаться совсем незавидным, поскольку кроме MLB 07: The Show, вышедшей в конце апреля, у компании нет ни одной новой эксклюзивной игры, а намеченные к выходу в мае 2007 года Surf's Up и Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End являются многоплатформенными.
