На конференции, прошедшей в конце прошлого квартала, глава компании Walt Disney Боб Иджер (Bob Iger) несколько раз повторил, что его компания поддерживает формат Blu-ray и видит за ним будущее. Причиной тому является не только техническое преимущество формата, его больший объем, но и спрос на Blu-ray диски, двукратно опережающий HD DVD.<br />Боб Иджер отметил, что оба формата HD DVD и Blu-ray находятся на начальном этапе развития. Число проданных дисков в HD-качестве только недавно перевалило за миллион. Проигрыватели очень дорогие. А сами покупатели недовольны битвой форматов и хотят, чтобы производители сами выбрали то, что будет лучше для видео-индустрии.<br />Глава компании добавил, что так называемая битва форматов не носит глобальный характер. Например, в Японии Blu-ray принадлежит подавляющая доля рынка. Вообще на всех рынках, где формат высокого разрешения уже вошел в жизнь, Blu-ray одерживает победу и, притом, значительную. Только в США наблюдается серьезное колебание как потребителей, так и в свою очередь производителей.<br /> <br /><div align="center"><img src="http://www.hdtv.ru/uploads/posts/1179487542_15pireates.jpg" style="border: none;" alt='Disney для своих фильмов выбирает формат Blu-ray' /></div><br /><br />22 мая будет представлен новый фильм от Disney на носителе Blu-ray — «Пираты Карибского моря: проклятье Черной жемчужины». Компании Disney, Fox, Lionsgate и Sony Pictures уже сделали однозначный выбор в сторону Blu-ray. Однако, HD DVD тоже занял крепкие позиции и у него есть могущественные покровители, среди них и Microsoft, так что покупателям придется смириться и, вероятней всего, дожидаться доступных цен на гибридные проигрыватели.
