Первые 65-нм Xenon и Xenos уже готовы, однако массовое производство начнется осенью. Напомним, в апреле прошлого года руководство Chartered Semiconductor Manufactur официально заявило о подписании соглашения с Microsoft на производство процессоров Xenon для игровой консоли Xbox 360 по 65-нм технологии Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI). Производство должно было начаться в первом квартале 2007. Однако, в силу определенных обстоятельств, переход на новую технологию был отложен на осень этого года.

Теперь DigiTimes сообщает, что графический процессор Xbox 360, Xenos, созданный силами AMD, также будет изготавливаться с применением 65-нм техпроцесса. Некоторые источники утверждают, что инженерные образцы 65-нм Xenos уже были отосланы Microsoft, а Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company полностью готова к началу массового производства новых чипов, которое было намечено на май этого года. Однако, Microsoft снова приняла решение перенести это событие на осень 2007. Стоить отметить, что переход с 90 нм на 65 нм позволит существенно уменьшить размеры чипов и снизить их энергопотребление и тепловыделение.
