1 мая – дата, которая в скором времени станет знаковой для цифрового кинематографа. В этот день на рынок Японии выходит Sony CineAlta 4K – цифровой кинопроектор следующего поколения, высотой 1.5 метра и весом 300 кг, созданный на базе новейшего проектора SRX-R220.

Характеристики аппарата поражают воображение: фирменная ЖК-матрица SXRD (Silicon X-tal Reflective Display) с разрешением 4,096 x 2,160 пикселей (в 4 раза больше чем 1080p !), яркость 18 000 люмен и лампа мощностью 4.2 Киловатт. Отличительной особенностью SXRD-матриц является небывалая контрастность изображения, достигающая величины 4000:1, что означает великолепную передачу черного цвета. Целлулоидную пленку заменит RAID-массив LMT-100 на 300 Гб, хранящий каждый отдельный кадр в зашифрованном формате JPEG2000.
К 2010 году Sony планирует перевести на цифровые проекторы треть всех японских кинотеатров, т.е. продать около тысячи новых проекторов, стоимость которых составит около 1.5 миллионов йен ($12,651) за комплект. В дальнейшем компания сильно рассчитывает на рынок США, где переход «на цифру» идет довольно неохотно. В принципе, отказ от пленки должен сэкономить огромные суммы денег для кино-производителей, но разговоры о переходе к цифровым проекторам идут уже около 7 лет, и, тем не менее, их доля в общем числе составляет около 6 % - только 2 200 кинотеатров из 38 000 перешли на более перспективную технологию. Причина заключается в нежелании киностудий компенсировать кинотеатрам переход на новые проекторы.
Владельцы же кинотеатров, естественно, не хотят брать все расходы на себя. Ситуацию должно поправить недавнее соглашение о том, что киностудии все-таки будут в течение нескольких лет выплачивать небольшие суммы кинотеатрам, решившим переходить «на цифру».
Кстати, в России уже работают несколько цифровых кинотеатров, 4 в Москве, 4 в Санкт-Петербурге и один в Набережных Челнах.
