Как считают в BDA (Blu-ray Disc Association), с успешным стартом продаж Sony Playstation 3 в Европе, в течение следующих 6-9 месяцев продажи Blu-ray изданий будут увеличиваться по экспоненциальному закону.
«PS3 стал настоящим акселератором для формата Blu-ray в Европе, где уже продано почти 800 000 приставок и планируется массовый выпуск блокбастеров на Blu-ray-носителях» - заявил Фрэнк Симонис (Frank Simonis), председатель европейского представительства BDA.

Продажи Blu-ray резко увеличатся в течение следующих 6-9 месяцев.

Хотя еще слишком рано оценивать картину продаж в Европе, Симонис уверен, что Blu-ray «вскоре затмит HD DVD». BDA сильно рассчитывает на поддержку со стороны независимых европейских киностудий и издателей, которые начнут массировано переходить на Blu-ray-носители уже этой осенью.
