Развивая технологию полевого эффекта, Sony представила свой первый дисплей, основанный на FED технологии, похожую во многих отношениях на чуть более распространенную SED технологию. В отличие от SED устройств технология FED позволяет выпускать дисплеи сравнительно небольшого размера, как, например, первая модель с 19,2 диагональю. <br /><div align="center"><img src="http://www.hdtv.ru/uploads/posts/1176272382_feddisplay440.jpg" style="border: none;" alt='Sony представила десплей на основе технологии FED' title='Sony представила десплей на основе технологии FED' /></div><br />Оптимальным разрешением будет 1,280 x 960 с яркостью в 400 к/м2 и, что самое впечатляющее, контрастностью 20000:1. Согласно информации от компании, будущие дисплеи смогут достигать размеры в 30 дюймов с разрешением 1,920 x 1,080. Информации о цене пока нет, но можно предположить, что дисплеи не будут отличаться дешевизной, так как они, несомненно, будут предназначены только для профессионального использования.
