У европейской PS3 серьезные проблемы с обратной совместимостью? Как известно, в Европе в продажу поступит версия PS3, у которой не будет аппаратной совместимости с PS2 для поддержки старых игр. Sony не собирается дискриминировать европейцев – аналогичные «урезанные» приставки вскоре появятся на прилавках в Америке и Японии. Предполагается, что программный эмулятор станет адекватной заменой Emotion Engine для запуска старых игр, однако, пока что, по всей видимости, дела у Sony на этом направлении обстоят неважно.



Немецкий интернет-ресурс cynamite заполучил в свои руки PS3, предназначенную для продажи в Германии, и исследовал ее на предмет совместимости с 12 играми для PS2:

Единственной игрой из этого списка, которая смогла запуститься, оказался Eragon. При попытке запуска всех остальных игр консоль сообщала, что ей требуется обновление прошивки. Возможно, что проблемы будут устранены благодаря новой прошивке, которая появится одновременно с европейским стартом 23 марта, но пока что, судя по этим данным, положение с обратной совместимостью весьма плачевное.
