Этой информации, озвученной британскими сайтами The Register и The Inquirer, противоречат данные CDR-Info, MacWorld, Computer World и многих других интернет-ресурсов. Согласно Computer World, устройства для работы с голографическим дисками HDS-300R появятся в продаже только в июле этого года, хотя первые рабочие образцы уже на руках у тестеров. Заказы от крупных компаний принимаются уже сегодня.<br /><br />Пока что голографические носители позволяют записывать информацию всего один раз, хотя компания уверяет, что к 2008 году появятся и перезаписываемые диски. Голографические системы первого поколения позволяют осуществлять запись со скоростью 20 Мб/с, срок их жизни составляет около 50 лет. К концу 2008 года InPhase Technology планирует представить носители второго поколения емкостью 800 Гб, на которые можно будет записывать данные со скоростью 80 Мб/с. К 2010 намечено завоевание барьера в 1,6 Тб.<br /><br />В действительности каждый диск имеет емкость 600 Гб. Но половина пространства недоступна для записи данных, так как она используется программным обеспечением для коррекции ошибок. Надо полагать, со временем придумают способ более экономного расходования дискового пространства. Новые диски имеют толщину всего 1,5 мм, но при этом они будут помещаться в 5,25" квадратную упаковку, напоминая старые дискеты. Предполагаемую стоимость приводов для голографических дисков можно назвать "заоблачной" – она составляет $18000. Да и сами носители стоят как два, а то и три, современных DVD-привода - $180. Конечно, массовыми такие дорогие продукты сразу не станут. Но всегда все с чего-то начинается, возможно, уже через два-три года, выкидывая свой старенький DVD, пользователи задумаются, покупать ли им Blu-ray/HD DVD, или же остановить свой выбор на голографической системе.
