Сейчас самым дешевым проигрывателем HD DVD является плеер от Toshiba по цене в 599 $. Тайваньские производители заявляют, что плееры HD DVD с ценой менее 500 $ появятся во второй половине этого года.<br /><br />Увеличение разрешения больших LCD телевизоров и плазменных панелей до 1080p должно повысить спрос на проигрыватели HD DVD и Blu-Ray.<br /><br />Если основываться на истории развития рынка DVD, то критическая ценовая отметка, с которой должен появиться более-менее массовый спрос на устройства воспроизведения видео высокой четкости — 500 $.
