Анонс iPhone от компании Apple стал главным событием Macworld 2007. Однако, новый гибрид телефона, плеера и КПК, является далеко не единственным продуктом, который компания показала на мероприятии. Сначала в своём выступлении Стив Джобс (Steve Jobs) представил Apple TV - доступный способ для беспроводного воспроизведения на большом экране телевизора контента с компьютеров Mac или PC, который сам руководитель назвал DVD-плеером 21 века. Об этом устройстве мы сейчас и постараемся кратко рассказать.

По сути Apple TV (ранее iTV) является «убийцей» современных оптических носителей. В то время как Toshiba и Sony вкладывают нешуточные средства в продвижение своих HD DVD и Blu-ray, Apple идёт совершенно другим путём, делая ставку исключительно на цифровую дистрибуцию. Устройство подключается к вашему телевизору так же, как обычный DVD-плеер, с тем лишь отличием, что данные для Apple TV нужно загружать из интернета.

То есть, все приобретённые вами файлы в iTunes, теперь можно просматривать дома на экране телевизора. Доступный и понятный интерфейс позволяет с легкостью загружать материалы, используя простой и функциональный пульт дистанционного управления Apple Remote.

Что же находится внутри этой стильной коробочки? Apple TV оснащен жестким диском объемом 40 Гбайт (куда поместится до 50 часов видео, или 9 тысяч песен, или 25 тысяч фотографий), HDMI и компонентным разъёмами, аналоговым и оптическим аудио выходами. Модель воспроизводит изображение с разрешением до 720p, легко подсоединяется к большинству широкоэкранных телевизоров и домашних кинотеатров. Поддерживается беспроводная сеть AirPort 802.11, позволяющая автоматически синхронизировать данные с одним компьютером и воспроизводить файлы с пяти дополнительных компьютеров (без всяких проводов).

Как и большинство других продуктов Apple, Apple TV отлично работает с iTunes, позволяет выбирать цифровой контент прямо «с телевизора» (ассортимент довольно велик - 350 телевизионных шоу, более 250 полнометражных фильмов (в DVD-качестве), 4 миллиона песен, 5 тысяч музыкальных клипов, 100 тысяч подкастов, 20 тысяч аудиокниг). Все манипуляции с данными производятся с помощью пульта управления Apple Remote, работающего на расстоянии до 9 метров.

Apple TV совместим с компьютерами Mac и Mac OS X (начиная от версии 10.3.9), а также компьютерами на основе ОС Windows XP Home/Professional (SP2). Для работы требуется поддержка беспроводной сети 802.11b/g/n (с AirPort, AirPort Extreme) или локальной сети со скоростью передачи данных от 10 до 100 Мбит/с. Разумеется, машинку также нужно подключать к интернету через широкополосное соединение. Не обойтись и без хорошего широкоэкранного телевизора.
