Не так давно стало известно о том, что компания Microsoft планирует слегка модернизировать свою консоль Xbox 360 за счёт замены находящегося в ней процессора.<br /><br />Конечно же, о внедрении принципиально нового чипа речи не идёт: производитель намерен лишь сменить процессор, выполненный по 90-нанометровым технологическим нормам, на 65-нанометровый. Производство нового чипа было поручено компании Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing, с которой Microsoft сотрудничает уже довольно давно. Ну а сам конвейер должны были включить где-то в течение первого квартала 2007 года.<br /><br />Однако, согласно информации некоторых неофициальных источников, Chartered не сможет выполнить возложенные на неё обязательства. Предполагается, что начало производства 65-нм чипов начнётся не раньше начала третьего квартала.<br /><br />К сожалению, ни Microsoft, ни Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing не изъявили желания комментировать данные слухи. Однако и без того ясно, что следующая ревизия Xbox 360 наверняка появится как минимум на три-четыре месяца позже.
