По словам журналистов уже сейчас услугу тестирует около 6 тысяч человек. Рабочее название нового сервиса - The Venice Project.<br /><br />После продажи Skype компании eBay, Янус Фриис (Janus Friis) и Никлас Ценнстром (Niklas Zennstrom) вложили часть вырученных средств на разработку именно этого проекта. В основу сервиса положена «peer-to-peer»-технология, что позволяет обслуживать одновременно десятки миллионов пользователей. Приятной особенностью The Venice Project можно считать высокое качество видео, однако, чтобы полностью ощутить все плюсы, необходимо обзавестись очень широким интернет-каналом. К тому же, Фриис (Friis) утверждает, что пользоваться услугами можно будет совершенно бесплатно.<br /><br />Начало работы нового телевизионного сервиса намечено на следующий год.
