Компании пришлось привлечь главу SCEE Дэвида Ривза, дабы положить конец разговорам на эту тему. Исполнительный директор европейского подразделения дал интервью, в котором назвал всю эту информацию «слухами, не имеющими под собой основания». Старт новой консоли состоится в марте, и компания не собирается переносить его на более поздний срок. Иными словами, источник, который сообщил сайту CVG о задержке выхода PlayStation 3 в Европе аж до сентября, оказался не достаточно компетентным в данном вопросе. Аналитик Майкл Пачтер из Wedbush Morgan отметил, что спрос на PS3 в Америке вряд ли спадет до июня, но это не помешает Sony выпустить небольшую партию консолей в Европе. Задержка же может состояться лишь в том случае, если компания решит снизить цену на приставку.
