Во время презентации, проходившей в Dolby Laboratories на этой неделе, компания Mitsubishi представила собравшимся новый технический стандарт, который, как рассчитывают разработчики, должен расширить спектр цветов, отображаемых телевизорами (улучшить цветовой охват).
Стандарт xvYCC придет на смену распространенному сегодня BT.709-5. xvYCC увеличивает число отображаемых оттенков светло-зеленого (глаз человека наиболее восприимчив к зеленому цвету).
BT.709-5 хорошо работает на большинстве телевизоров, но ограничивает возможности ЖК-телевизоров со светодиодной подсветкой и проекционных ТВ (RPTV) с цифровой обработкой сигнала, уверен Вик Мерти (Vik Murty) старший менеджер по маркетингу Mitsubishi. Компания начнет переводить на новый стандарт свои телевизоры, начиная с апреля 2007 года.
Вещательные компании также работают над внедрением xvYCC. Кроме того, стандарт так или иначе будут использовать Sony (в мобильных устройствах) и Toshiba (в SED-телевизорах).
