Представители группы, занимающейся продвижением HD DVD, объявили, что с момента дебюта формата в апреле 2006 года, студии успели записать и продать 1,5 миллионов HD DVD дисков с 110 различными фильмами. К концу этого года на дисках выпустят ещё 40 кино-новинок. Неплохо продаются и HD DVD плееры, цена на которые упала с 500-800 долларов до 375-400 долларов. Пользователи Xbox 360 могут приобщиться к HD DVD всего за 200 долларов, купив соответствующий привод.<br /><img src="http://www.hdtv.ru/hdtvimg/082_33184.jpg" style="border: none;" alt='1,5 миллиона проданных HD DVD' /><br />Заметим, что дела у конкурирующего формата Blu-ray идут пока не столь хорошо. Дисков с фильмами не слишком много и плееры стоят значительно дороже (Samsung BD-P1000 продают за 800-1000 долларов). Впрочем, с выходом на рынок PlayStation 3 ситуация должна несколько измениться. <br />Согласно данным недавно опубликованного исследования Kagan Research, HD DVD и Blu-ray соберут в этом году не менее 80 миллионов долларов (0,5% от общей доли домашнего видеорынка). К 2012 году, продажи дисков с контентом в высоком разрешении превысят продажи обычных DVD.
