Компания Panasonic анонсировала DVD-проигрыватель DVD-S99. Его особенностью является возможность масштабирования видео DVD-формата до высокого разрешения (720p или 1080i). Так что, если у вас уже есть HD-телевизор, то в ожидании Blu-ray или HD DVD вы сможете пересмотреть свою коллекцией DVD-фильмов в новом качестве.

Помимо DVD-Video, новинка поддерживает такие форматы, как DVD-Audio, MPEG4, WMA, SVCD, JPEG и MP3. Хорошее качество изображения обеспечивается видеоЦАП 12-бит/216 МГц, а звука — аудиоЦАП 24-бит/192 кГц. Кроме HDMI-выхода, плеер оборудован SCART, компонентным и S-Video выходами. 

На европейский рынок DVD-S99 будет выпущен в сентябре, его цена составит примерно 350 евро.
