Видео высокой четкости является новой вехой развития видеоконтента. Вместе с носителями нового поколения, HD-DVD или Blu-ray, пользователь получает возможность окунуться в новый мир фильмов с высококачественным изображением на своем ПК. Обратной стороной медали являются высокие требования к аппаратным ресурсам. Журналистам TG Daily удалось немного приоткрыть занавес тайны над вопросом, каким должен быть современный ПК для проигрывания HD видео.
Журналисты были приглашены компанией NVIDIA на демонстрацию технологий аппаратного декодирования HD сигнала силами видеокарты. Впервые данный вопрос подняла ATI во время первого упоминания о Radeon X1800. С тех пор в современных видеокартах декларируется функциональность аппаратного ускорения декодирования HD контента.

Демонстрация в разрешении 1080p проходила сперва с полностью программным декодированием, которым занимался двухъядерный процессор Intel Pentium D 830. Стоит признать, этот вполне современный процессор справился с задачей с трудом. В качестве контента был выбран HD DVD диск с компрессией VC-1 при среднем битрейте в 15 Мбит/с, что не является максимально возможным в рамках стандарта HD. Процессор трудился изо всех сил на 100% загрузке, но, по утверждению журналистов, все же допускал потери кадров.

Во время второго запуска того же ролика была активирована функция аппаратного ускорения HD (в проигрывателе Cyberlink PowerDVD 6.5) на подопытной видеокарте класса GeForce 7600. Для этого также понадобился  новый драйвер с поддержкой Purevideo HD, который должен появиться в августе. Как можно видеть из приводимой фотографии, утилизация процессора замерла на 60%, а зрители наслаждались видеороликом без пропущенных кадров.
Итогом эксперимента стал вывод, что пока для просмотра 1080p HD контента на ПК сил одного современного центрального процессора не хватает. Но хватит ли их у продукции AMD или новинки в лице Core 2 Duo, не уточняется. В таком случае современная видеокарта сможет стать тем спасительным ключом, который откроет дверь в мир видео высокой четкости. Только не забудьте позаботиться о другом соответствующем оборудовании, например, хорошей акустической системе или же качественном мониторе с большим разрешением экрана.
